Every chocolate dial Seiko mod we build, across five shapes: the Nautilus (open heart and classic), the Datejust, the Day-Date, the Aquanaut and the Santos. Each runs a named Japanese automatic, Seiko on most and Miyota on the Day-Date, under sapphire crystal. Brown is the colour nobody expects to want, until they see it next to warm metal.

Chocolate with rose gold, or two-tone?

Every chocolate dial we make sits next to warm metal. The case decides how dressy it reads.

Metal Builds How it reads
Rose gold Open Heart Nautilus, Nautilus, Day-Date, Aquanaut Rose gold and chocolate is the combination people stare at. Warm on warm, the dressiest option here.
Steel and rose gold Datejust, Santos (Mocha) Steel cools the brown down, so it works with a suit and with jeans.
Steel and yellow gold Santos (Brown) The most vintage-looking pairing, a seventies dress watch feel.

Sunburst, stripes or open heart?

The dial finish changes the brown more than the shade does. The Datejust, the Day-Date and the Santos Brown use a sunburst, so the brown turns lighter at the centre and darker at the edge as you move your wrist. The Nautilus dials have horizontal stripes that throw a line of light across the brown. The Open Heart adds a window at 9 o'clock with the Seiko NH38's balance wheel beating inside it. The Aquanaut uses a waffle grid with a matching brown rubber strap, and the Santos Mocha has a wave pattern that radiates from the centre.

Frequently asked questions

What is a chocolate dial?

A warm, deep brown dial. "Chocolate" is a collector nickname for the colour, not a model. Every watch here was checked against its real product photo, so a brown strap on a white dial does not count.

Which chocolate Seiko mod sells best?

The Open Heart Nautilus in rose gold, by a distance. It is one of the best-selling watches in the whole store.

Is it water resistant?

Standard builds are splash-resistant: fine for rain, hand washing and everyday wear. Every watch here offers the Swim-Ready 5 ATM option: add it when you order and lock the crown down before any water.
