      What is in this collection

The range spans Datejust and Wimbledon two-tone builds, Day-Date in rose gold, Royal Oak in rose gold, Santos in two-tone gold, and three Daytona chronographs in black and rose gold, blue and gold, and green and gold. Prices run from A$289 to A$399.

Rose gold and two-tone are not the same choice

Full rose gold reads warmer and louder and suits a smaller case. Two-tone keeps a steel case and bracelet and puts the gold on the bezel, crown and centre links, so it reads as a detail rather than a statement. If you have never worn gold and are not sure, two-tone is the safer entry and the one most people keep wearing.

      The finish, honestly

The gold on these is PVD plating over 316L stainless steel, not solid gold and not filled. That is what makes a A$329 watch possible. PVD is a hard, vacuum-bonded coating rather than paint, so it wears far better than electroplate, but it is a coating and hard knocks on an edge will eventually show. We would rather tell you that now than have you find out.

      Movements and build

      • Three hand builds run a genuine Seiko NH35 automatic with a 41 hour power reserve.
      • The chronographs run a VK63 meca-quartz, which snaps the chronograph hand back instantly and keeps quartz accuracy. It is not automatic and we never describe it as one.
      • Sapphire crystal and a 316L stainless steel case throughout.
      • 5 ATM, 50m. Splash and everyday wear, not swimming or diving.
      • 1 year warranty.
